Daniel Melim’s studio is in São Bernardo do Campo, the industrial city close to São Paulo in which he was born, and which is also the birthplace of the Brazilian labor movement. Melim studied painting, and in addition to his major pictorial body of work, has become one of Brazil’s leading contemporary muralists. He has a long-standing involvement in political and social projects in his city’s communities, incorporating graffiti into participatory and educational processes.
